Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the payroll and pension function for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, reporting to the Director of Finance. The department provides payroll and pension services to two Trusts. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced payroll leader to join the team and lead it in the transition period and for longer-term service development.
Main duties
* Create and lead a set of functions providing proactive payroll services to all areas of the Trust.
* Work with Directors of Finance and HR to interpret strategies and facilitate remuneration and benefits decisions.
* Lead Payroll services for all Trust Care Groups and Departments, providing information, advice and recommendations.
* Ensure accurate & timely submission of RTI & P11D returns to the Inland Revenue for all Trusts.
* Remain proactive in future developments of Trust Payroll services.
* Provide necessary and relevant payroll and pension advice to employees.
* Develop payroll service provision within Berkshire West Place to satisfy initiatives.
* Lead the payroll function with minimal guidance and initiative.

Key requirements
Experience: Very substantial payroll experience at a senior management level in a large and complex organisation; expert understanding of payroll and pension processes and audit requirements; proven staff management experience in change environments.
Skills: Leadership, accuracy, ability to work under pressure, ability to lead a function.
