Overview
Staff Nurse, Stroke Unit role at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The unit is based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital and focuses on acute and rehabilitation stroke care. The team offers preceptorship and a Clinical Supervision programme, with support from an experienced multi-professional team to deliver excellent patient care.
The unit is currently a 50 bedded service. Staff are encouraged to develop clinical skills and knowledge in an environment conducive to learning and development. A buddy nurse is provided during induction and ongoing professional development is supported.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. While Welsh language skills are not essential, having Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above is advantageous for shortlisting and selection. Level 3 refers to basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering high quality person-centred care. They will participate in a CTM-wide Stroke Unit and contribute to the delivery of high standards of patient care, working within a dynamic, forward-thinking team.
Additional duties include participation in induction, buddy-supported integration, and engagement with the Clinical Supervision programme. The unit emphasises professional development and continuous learning.
Qualifications and Skills
* Registered Nurse with the ability to work in a Stroke Unit context (acute and rehabilitation care)
* Excellent communication skills and a commitment to person-centred care
* Willingness to participate in induction, preceptorship, and clinical supervision
* Welsh language skills at Level 3 (desirable but not essential)
