South West Scotland Vascular Network – Consultant in Vascular Surgery (Based at University Hospital Hairmyres, Lanarkshire)
This initial six‑month locum consultant vascular surgeon post offers an opportunity to join the South West Scotland Vascular Network centralised at University Hospital Hairmyres and serving the populations of NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Ayrshire and Arran and NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
The role involves delivering a full remit of vascular surgery, including procedures such as EVAR, FEVAR, TEVAR, CERAB, deep venous interventions, open aortic and carotid surgery, lower limb revascularisation and renal access, supported by a new hybrid endovascular operating theatre and interventional radiology suite.
Primarily based in Hairmyres, the successful applicant may also be allocated sessional commitments to clinics, theatre and elective activities at University Hospital Crosshouse (Ayrshire and Arran) and University Hospital Ayr.
The position is part of a large vascular team of 10 consultants, 7 middle‑grade staff, 3 junior doctors, a POPS team, 2 nurse specialists and allied health professionals. The applicant will be encouraged to develop an endovascular practice and pursue interests in education, management and research.
Applicants can propose additional SPA time aligned with quality improvement, patient safety, education or research. The board supports these initiatives for candidates committed to service improvement.
