As a Construction Planner, you will coordinate and manage the pre‑construction phase of projects, ensuring the development of effective programmes, planning strategies, and communication across all stakeholders. You will work closely with construction and pre‑construction teams to produce comprehensive programmes and schedules that align with project scope, deliverables, timelines, and budget expectations.
Construction site experience is essential, providing the practical understanding required for accurate sequencing, logistics planning, methodology, and buildability assessments.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to prepare accurate pre‑construction programmes and planning strategies.
* Coordinate the development of essential project documentation, including scopes of work, resource plans, methodologies, and budget estimates.
* Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to secure permits, approvals, and critical project information.
* Track project progress, milestones, and deliverables, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
* Maintain strong communication among project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure alignment of all planning and pre‑construction and construction activities.
* Use construction site experience to inform programme development, ensuring logistics, access, sequencing, and methodology are fully evaluated.
* Attend site regularly to verify planning assumptions and ensure the programme reflects current site conditions and construction methods.
Qualifications & Experience
* HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Previous experience in construction planning, project coordination, or project management within the construction industry.
* Practical construction site experience, such as site engineering, site coordination, or involvement in day‑to‑day site operations.
* Proficiency with planning and project management software (e.g., Asta Powerproject, MS Project) and strong Microsoft Office skills.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high‑quality outputs.
* Proactive, enthusiastic, and eager to develop further within a growing consultancy.
