Chef Supervisor / Sous Chef
Location: Denstone (nr Uttoxeter)
Salary: £30,000 p/a
We are recruiting for an experienced chef supervisor in the Denstone area, in a beautiful rural setting, just on the Staffordshire border between Uttoxeter and Ashbourne.
You will be joining a prestigious, independent school, catering for ages from 4 to 18 and assisting in the management of the kitchen team. This is a boarding school that also hosts extracurricular and community events, so you will be involved in planning and executing breakfasts, lunches, dinners, as well as hospitality and sporting events. The school's catering is managed in-house, allowing the successful candidate to bring their own expertise and creativity to the role.
Working hours:
34 weeks in term time, 9 weeks outside term time (9 weeks holiday per year). 5 days out of 7, 40 hours per week.
Daily responsibilities:
* Working closely with the Head Chef and Catering Manager to plan catering operations
* Shift running
* Preparing and cooking a high volume of meals to specifications
* Assisting with menu planning and hospitality functions
* Supporting and coaching the kitchen team
* Managing food orders and stock control
* Maintaining food hygiene standards in the kitchen
About you:
* Must have an Enhanced DBS Child Workforce check within the last year or be on the update service
* Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification
* Food Allergen Awareness Certification
* At least 2 years experience in kitchen management or as a sous chef
* Experience in contract or school catering is beneficial
* Friendly and approachable demeanor
