Department: Data Centres Location: SE-2 (Maidenhead Data Centre) Description Shift pattern - 12 hour shifts (4 on 4 off) with days/nights/weekend. Rotating between 7am – 7pm and 7pm – 7am On site role at our Maidenhead data centre, with some coverage also required for our Reading East data centre Learn new skills via on the job training and company provided Udemy learning resources. As a Data Centre Engineer, you will be the ‘remote hands’ on the ground, performing and resolving various software and hardware tasks raised by external and internal customers. The role includes meeting and greeting customers to the Data centre and a providing a positive visiting experience. The role will provide you opportunity to further enhance your Data centre skills and learn new skills via company provided Udemy resources. Key responsibilities: Respond to customers within agreed SLA. Delivery of intelligent remote hands for customers within SLA. Delivery of intelligent remote hands for other Pulsant teams within OLA. The deployment of customer solutions to plans provided by Provisioning teams The deployment of racks and related equipment to support customer orders. Manage all incoming calls, tickets, emails and faxes to the data centre services function. Responsible for proactive updating of customer and resolution of service. Follow escalation processes; tickets to support management and other teams as required. Liaise with third party suppliers to report and escalate customer problems. Access management to site where no security function is available. Provide expert cabling support including crimping, patching, labelling, running and terminating. Troubleshoot hardware faults and arrange replacements. Install and decommission redundant equipment and cabling. Co-operate and work closely with all members of the DC and wider operational teams to ensure efficient, productive and high-quality service to customers within the Pulsant live Data Centre. Stock control of Pulsant assets and store management. Manage, categorise, and prioritise all relevant tickets; these include problems, queries and requests regarding Pulsant services. Support Trainee DC Engineers when required. Monitoring of infrastructure / CCTV, site walk around checks and reporting / escalating any faults or concerns as required. What / who we're looking for: Experience working with / troubleshooting computer hardware Keen interest in, and passionate about IT technology and infrastructure. Strong communication skills and a customer focussed approach Full UK Driving Licence. Ability to work well to deadlines and under pressure. Good problem solving skills.
