We are now seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our occupational health & safety management system across retail stores, depots, and office locations.This is a pivotal role for a proactive professional who can combine strategic oversight with hands‑on delivery, ensuring compliance, driving best practice, and embedding a strong safety culture across the organisation. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) in line with legislation.Champion health & safety best practice across all sites, ensuring systems of work are robust and effective.Manage accident and incident reporting, ensuring investigations are thorough and corrective actions completed.Partner with property and facilities teams to oversee statutory testing, preventive maintenance, and audits.Lead site inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with the audit calendar and legislative requirements.Support HR and training teams in the design and delivery of health & safety training programmes.Monitor KPIs, risk assessments, and claims data, producing monthly reports and driving continuous improvement.Implement awareness campaigns and clear communication to embed health & safety across all stakeholders.Manage insurance claims and introduce processes to mitigate risk exposure. What we’re looking forDegree in Health & Safety or NEBOSH Diploma (minimum), or working towards completion.Proven experience managing health & safety in a wholesale, retail, or multi‑site environment.Track record of managing systems to OHSAS 18001 standards (or equivalent).Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.Strong planning, organisation, and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail.Ability to work independently, make key decisions, and balance workload effectively.Integrity, confidentiality, and a pragmatic approach to risk management.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.Desirable:Recognised training qualifications (e.g. Manual Handling Instructor, Fire Safety).Membership of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health).
