A well-established construction group in the Darlington area is seeking a Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. With a turnover of around £5m, this is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working close to the detail while maintaining oversight of the wider financial picture.
Youll have the support of an admin assistant handling invoice entry and routine processing, but this role will suit someone comfortable managing all other aspects of a small but busy finance function.
Key responsibilities include:
Cashflow management and forecasting
Preparation of monthly management accounts and reports for the directors
CIS compliance and returns
Reverse charge VAT and HMRC submissions
Oversight of ledgers and supplier payments
Payroll review and processing oversight
Liaising with external accountants and banks
Continuous improvement of systems and internal processes
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Were open-minded on qualifications; what matters most is practical experience within a construction or project-based SME environment and a solid grasp of CIS and VAT.
The role is office-based in Darlington and requires someone available to start at short notice.
