We are looking for a People & Culture Assistant to join the People & Culture team at Thermatic Group.
This is an apprenticeship and the postholder will undertake an HR Support Level 3 apprenticeship as part of this role.
This role is a fixed‑term contract based on the length of the apprenticeship (approx. 18 months).
The People & Culture Assistant will support the day‑to‑day delivery of HR operations across the business while undertaking a Level 3 HR Support apprenticeship. Working closely with the People & Culture Partner and Advisors, this role provides administrative and operational support across employee lifecycle activities, HR systems, digital process improvements, onboarding, and employee engagement. The role offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced FM environment and builds foundational HR knowledge, skills, and behaviours for future progression.
Thermatic Technical FM provides complete nationwide coverage across the full spectrum of Hard FM services to large, commercial clients. Our team of mobile engineers is supported by the account teams at Head Office to provide both reactive breakdown and planned maintenance services to our clients.

Hours & Location of Work:
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday – approximately 20% of working hours will be dedicated to the Off‑The‑Job requirements of the apprenticeship.
* Location: Thermatic Head Office, Salford, Manchester – opportunities to work flexibly will be available.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
* Prior administrative experience (any sector) is advantageous.
* Experience in customer service or people‑facing roles.
* Exposure to HR systems or office systems.
* GCSEs including English & Maths (required for apprenticeship eligibility).
* Will be enrolled onto HR Support Level 3 apprenticeship.
* Interest in progressing toward CIPD membership (desired).
* Strong administrative, organisational, and time‑management skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of the business.
* Good IT skills (Microsoft 365 essential).
* Aptitude for learning digital tools, automation, and HR systems.
* Ability to handle confidential information with care.
* Problem‑solving mindset with willingness to try new approaches.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
Responsibilities include:
People Operations & Administration
* Provide general HR administration support across the full employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, changes, offboarding).
* Serve as a friendly point of contact for employee queries, ensuring a high‑quality, inclusive experience.
* Support Advisors with minute‑taking, preparation of documentation, and scheduling of ER meetings.
* Support monthly payroll preparation through data entry, absence tracking, and change notifications.
Recruitment & Talent Support
* Assist in posting job adverts and coordinating interviews.
* Support pre‑screening tasks where appropriate and maintain candidate records.
* Work with the Talent team to deliver a smooth recruitment experience.
* Coordinate onboarding for remote engineers and office‑based staff, including documentation, equipment requests, and induction scheduling.
* Assist with new starter compliance checks (right to work, qualifications, DBS if required).
Projects, Engagement & Culture
* Assist with engagement surveys, culture initiatives, and internal communication campaigns.
* Help organise events, recognition weeks, onboarding days, and wellbeing activities.
* Contribute ideas to improve the employee experience across remote engineering teams.
* Support the administration of training programmes, LMS updates, certification tracking, and development pathways.
* Take ownership of own apprenticeship requirements, off‑the‑job hours, and personal development planning.
