Senior Healthcare Support Worker (ShaR)

About the role
Senior Health Care Assistants work as part of a large team comprising Health Care Assistants at Band 2 & 3, Nursing Associates (Band 4), Staff Nurses (Band 5) and District Nurses (Band 6). We are looking to recruit dedicated, motivated staff willing to go the extra mile for patients.
The post is a community position based in South Hambleton and North Ryedale, with bases at Easingwold, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering.
Main duties
Provide high quality nursing care within the community setting. Work independently in patients’ homes, supporting and implementing care plans, and maintaining professional practice to NHS standards.
Travel to patients’ homes across a rural locality, ensuring appropriate transport of oneself and equipment. Travel expenses are covered, and parking at community sites is free for clinical staff.
Work over a 7-day period within the Community Nurse Team, and cross-cover other teams or sites in York and Selby as required.
Qualifications and experience
* Level 3 vocational qualification in health/social care or willingness to complete the Level 3 Diploma (QCF) appropriate to the clinical area.
* L2 Functional/Key skills or equivalent community setting experience.
* Minimum C grade GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
Experience & knowledge
* Previous experience in a health, social care or community setting.
* Understanding of the role of a Senior Healthcare Support Worker.
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
Skills & attributes
* Basic IT skills.
* Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
* Ability to manage, prioritise and organise own workload with advice and consultation.
* Advanced IT skills (spreadsheets, PowerPoint, or ECDL qualification).
