The role is a combination of field and office work, with Blandford as your base office. You must be willing to work outside all-year round, often in demanding weather conditions. You'll utilise practical, scientific skills to install and operate sensitive equipment that measures rainfall, river flows, tides and groundwater levels, every 15 minutes, 365 days a year; and maintain the telemetry network that transmits the data to our computer systems. In the office you will use your IT and data analysis skills to quality assure the hydrometric data you've collected. Using good communication skills, you'll build effective relationships across teams to provide datasets needed by key customers. Our team members have incident response roles. Our monitoring service underpins many of the Environment Agency's responsibilities relating to flood warning, incident management and managing our water resources. Experience/skills required Geography/Science degree preferred. Qualified to A Level/BTEC/Diploma in science subjects minimum Team player,excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as part of our close-knit team. Electrical / instrumentation / Telemetry / hand tool skills advantageous. Capable of managing large quantities of data and IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
