Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Radiographer to lead the Radiology provision of our Cardiac Catheterisation service at Colchester Hospital. You will work in our combined Interventional Radiology & Cardiac Angiography (IRCA) unit. The Cardiac Cath Lab runs Monday - Friday for procedures such as diagnostic coronary angiography and pacemaker implants and liaises with other local hospitals for interventional procedures. Our interventional Radiology service provides a 24/7 service, with Colchester as the regional vascular centre, performing procedures including RIGs, portacath insertions, ureteric stents, fibroid and prostate embolisations, and urgent life-saving procedures such as EVAR, FEVAR, embolisation, thrombolysis and angioplasty.
This post requires a rotational on-call commitment with a 45-minute call-out time, and there is an opportunity to rotate into CT.
Responsibilities
* Accountable for the daily management of the staff workflow adhering to agreed protocols
* Provide significant knowledge and expertise in the clinical field of the area
* Lead RPS for the Imaging modality and keep up to date with IR(ME)R policies cascaded from the IR(ME)R Lead
* Undertake imaging to a high professional standard and ensure good radiation governance processes are in place to support patients and staff
* Accountable for reviewing area policies, competency frameworks and staff training to support and maintain effective and efficient operation of the department, enabling compliance with national and local access targets
Qualifications and requirements
* Qualified Radiographer with relevant experience in Interventional Radiology and Cardiac imaging
* Ability to lead the imaging service in a busy IR/Cardiac unit and coordinate on-call responsibilities
* Knowledge of IR(ME)R policies and ability to apply them within the department
* Experience in achieving high-quality imaging standards and strong radiation governance
* Willingness to rotate into CT and participate in on-call duties with a 45-minute response time
* Experience in reviewing and updating local policies, competency frameworks and staff training
