About The Role

The role of Assistant General Manager – Operations is pivotal to the performance and success of the Wyton site. Drawing on your proven experience within fast-paced operational environments and your strong understanding of the automotive industry—particularly vehicle refurbishment—you will help drive excellence across every stage of our operation.

You will oversee all aspects of vehicle administration and yard operations, leading a team of skilled managers and team leaders to ensure every vehicle is processed in line with customer-specific requirements, standard operating practices, and HSE guidelines. Your leadership will ensure that vehicles flow smoothly and efficiently through each stage of the process while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.

In this role, you will have direct line management responsibility for both the yard operations and service delivery teams, shaping performance, developing capability, and ensuring the site consistently delivers outstanding results.

What You’ll Be Doing

* Lead and inspire the Service Delivery & Operations team, ensuring departmental goals are met and customer satisfaction remains consistently high.
* Continuously review and refine ways of working, maximising site efficiency and collaborating with team leads to stay ahead of daily vehicle movement impacts.
* Improve and streamline systems and processes to boost operational efficiency, output, and overall performance.
* Ensure strict budget adherence, identifying opportunities to reduce costs without compromising delivery or quality.
* Work collaboratively with the wider Wyton management team, supporting the achievement of SLAs and representing operations in meetings when required.
* Communicate effectively across all operational teams, delivering structured updates and ensuring managers remain aligned and informed.
* Maintain seamless vehicle flow across the site, proactively managing and resolving any operational barriers.
* Demonstrate strong workforce planning, coordinating workloads and resource levels to meet unit movement targets in the most cost-effective way.
* Lead the team in upholding rigorous key-security standards, ensuring full compliance and accountability.
* Champion continuous improvement in customer service, ensuring all customer and internal queries or complaints are thoroughly investigated and resolved.
* Oversee regular stock control and management, maintaining accuracy and operational readiness.
* Provide ongoing updates to the General Manager, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities in real time.
* Act as a key liaison between the business and its customers, attending client meetings and contributing to strong, positive relationships.
* Support site management in driving team engagement, celebrating achievements, improving morale, and fostering high retention levels.
* Address people issues promptly and professionally, escalating complex situations to the HR Business Partner as appropriate.
* Coordinate Health & Safety across site operations, ensuring compliance and promoting a culture of safety-first behaviours.

What We’re Looking For

* Proven experience in automotive and production environments, with a strong understanding of operational demands and workflow.
* Sound knowledge of headcount management and budgeting, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
* Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams, inspiring high performance and strong collaboration.
* A strong track record of meeting SLA and KPI requirements, delivering consistent and reliable operational results.
* Experience across administration, operations, or production functions, with the ability to support and optimise end-to-end processes.
* Background in fast-paced, high-output environments, adapting quickly to changing priorities and operational challenges.
* Evidence of driving performance and profitability improvements, using process optimisation and efficiency gains to deliver measurable results.
