Binnies UK, part of the RSK Group, is seeking Lead Mechanical Design Engineers to work on both clean water and wastewater schemes, delivering engineering solutions from concept design to detailed design for construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce clear and concise engineering deliverables such as general arrangement drawings, equipment sizing calculations, equipment and material selection, enquiry documentation, datasheets, schedules, and reports.
* Ensure compliance with in-house procedural & quality systems.
* Coordinate development of key multidisciplinary deliverables like P&IDs.
* Manage design interfaces with other disciplines and integrate mechanical design into overall projects.
* Collaborate closely with project teams, other engineering disciplines, project managers, estimating, site and commissioning teams, CAD, joint venture partners, and clients.
* Undertake technical bid assessments, review subcontractor designs, and support site teams with technical expertise.
* Provide technical guidance and supervision to project teams.
* Take on supervisor responsibilities including performance management and professional development support.
* Manage budgets, schedules, and quality requirements effectively.
Person Specification
This role suits technically strong, commercially aware candidates with a background in Mechanical Engineering within the water or related industries. You should demonstrate:
* Experience in clean water and wastewater systems design, including equipment specification, hydraulic design, plant layout, and technical/economic evaluations.
* Knowledge of standards, practices, CDM, procurement, and document control.
* A degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
* At least 8 years of relevant work experience.
* Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a drive to deliver efficient engineering solutions.
* Self-motivation and ability to work independently within multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication skills and high computer literacy.
