Job Details

We have an opportunity for a Retail and Cafe Manager to join our team at RVS, Stirling Community Hospital, Stirling, FK8 2AU. This is a part-time, permanent position. The salary is £13.19 per hour (FTE £24,023 per annum).


Responsibilities

* Oversee all aspects of the store’s operations, including stock control and staffing, to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.
* Meet or exceed the agreed P&L budget; monitor performance and adjust costs as needed.
* Maintain exceptional store standards and provide friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service.
* Ensure compliance with statutory standards including Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection, and Financial controls.
* Lead by example to create a positive volunteer experience; motivate and engage volunteers and employees through effective communication.
* Provide coaching, mentoring and training to the team in line with Royal Voluntary Service Policies and Procedures.
* Manage team performance, recruit and coordinate volunteers and employees to meet operational requirements.
* Utilise management reports to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement and increased sales.
* Visit competitors to identify trends and provide feedback to the Retail Support team via the Area Manager.
* Collaborate with the Area Manager to develop and implement the local Retail Business Plan.
* Establish an effective working relationship with the local NHS team and provide regular performance updates to the Area Manager.
* Be flexible to attend out-of-hours training as required.


What You'll Bring

* At least two years’ management experience.
* Experience in a retail or café environment (minimum two years).
* Cash handling experience (at least two years).
* Proven leadership and people management skills; ability to motivate a team.
* Experience working with volunteers is advantageous.
* Knowledge of Food Safety & Health & Safety procedures is advantageous.
* Good understanding of EPOS / till systems.
* Proficient in IT systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, Email) at a basic level.
* Knowledge of general administrative processes.
* Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong customer service skills and clear, effective communication.
* Strong planning, organizing, delegating and prioritising abilities.
* Flexibility to meet the needs of the business and to attend out-of-hours training if required.
* Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.

* Maintain high store standards and a safe, clean, organised environment; provide friendly and efficient customer service.
* Ensure compliance with statutory standards, including Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection and Financial controls.
* Lead by example to create a positive volunteer experience; motivate and engage volunteers and employees through effective communication.
* Provide coaching and training to the team to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
* Implement processes to manage team performance and drive improvement.
* Recruit and coordinate volunteers and employees to meet operational requirements.
* Use management reports to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
* Regularly review competitors to identify trends and take appropriate action; provide feedback to the Retail Support team via the Area Manager.
* Collaborate with the Area Manager to develop the Retail Business Plan and implement it locally.
* Establish an effective relationship with the local NHS team and provide regular performance updates to the Area Manager.
* Be prepared to work flexible hours aligned with store trading hours.
