Overview
Senior Registered Nurse - Interventional Theatres. We are looking for an experienced Radiology Nurse who can demonstrate good leadership and clinical skills to join our friendly team. These posts will initially be based on the Royal site with potential cross-site rotation to Aintree in the future.
Responsibilities
* Undertake and oversee the assessment, development, implementation, evaluation and delivery of nursing care for a wide variety of patients in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
* Lead a nursing team, setting a professional example while providing a high standard of patient care at all times. Regularly take overall charge of the Interventional Radiology unit in the absence of the Lead Nurse, driving evidence-based practice and ensuring the team provides optimum care efficiently, effectively and safely.
* IR experience or evidence of leadership is required; responsible for professional development and using in-service training to gain further skills and knowledge.
* Manage staff development, assess competence and ensure compliance with HR policies and guidelines.
* Support the Interventional Lead Nurse in running the IR unit by participating in coordinating shifts, prioritising patient care and collaborating with other specialities.
* Prepare patients prior to procedures through liaison responsibilities.
* Participate in IR theatres to ensure safe and effective service delivery, including scrub role, administration of conscious sedation and monitoring patient condition and vital signs.
* Mentor junior staff, Allied Health professionals, students and newly qualified nurses; provide appraisal support and development.
* Promote an effective working environment through collaboration with Radiographers and Radiologists; engage in audits to promote best practice.
* Observe Ionising Radiations Regulations 17 and Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017 and Local rules.
Hours and location
This is a full-time role. Hours are typically 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required and a commitment to the On-Call rota.
