The Opportunity
At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Head of Strategic Captures to join our growing Electronic Warfare Sales and Business Development team. Leonardo is a globally recognised leader in the design, supply and support of integrated airborne Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions. The Electronics UK Business Unit designs, develops and produces a wide range of products and solutions for air, land and maritime platforms that include integrated mission systems, radars and sensors, electronic warfare systems, on-board avionics and communications, air launched effects and a range of support solutions.
Reporting to the VP Sales of the Electronic Warfare Line of Business; the Head of Strategic Captures will have responsibility for securing forecast order targets by managing and delivering a portfolio of campaigns and sales opportunities and leading a team of Campaign Managers. The EW Line of Business main markets are the Air Domain within the UK, US and NATO aligned Defence markets.
This is a high-profile role focused on a key growth area for the organisation. The successful applicant will have regular exposure to senior leadership and an opportunity to excel and contribute significantly to the organisation’s success over the next decade.
What you will do as a Head of Strategic Captures:
1. Lead a team of campaign managers to secure order intake and meet forecast targets by managing key campaigns and opportunities.
2. Identify, create, and validate opportunities for future sales and growth.
3. Lead integrated campaign teams to drive pursuit activity and deliver competitive proposals.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with customers, end users, and industrial partners.
5. Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders including marketing, capabilities, and other lines of business.
6. Ensure opportunities are identified, tracked, and reported through active Capture Plans.
7. Manage the Business Winning budget effectively for campaign pursuits.
8. Support communications events such as exhibitions, demonstrations, and conferences.
What we need from you:
1. Relevant sector experience and commercial knowledge, especially of EW and Air platforms.
2. Self-motivated with the ability to set and achieve strategic goals.
3. Experience with export campaigns, international customers, and UK MOD influence.
4. Results-oriented with clear, ambitious goals.
5. Experience in managing strategic campaigns within defence or similar sectors.
6. Strong leadership and motivational skills.
7. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
8. Ability to brief senior stakeholders confidently.
9. Effective team management and coaching skills.
