INTRODUCTION
The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra is the oldest radio orchestra in the world. Founded in 1922, we broadcast live music for over 100 years. We are looking for an exceptional musician to lead our Horn section as Section Principal Horn.
It is a time of growth, with new partnerships, audiences, recordings, and global tours. The orchestra has a mandate to create inspiring and ambitious artistic work.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Section Principal Horn will sit in the orchestra and lead the horn section.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Demonstrate outstanding solo and orchestral playing abilities as Section Principal Horn.
* Lead and manage the Horn section, fostering a supportive environment and ensuring the performance and welfare of the section.
* Build positive working relationships with conductors, freelancers, and all members of the orchestra.
* Act as a passionate team player to maintain and enhance the orchestra’s reputation.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Outstanding professional orchestral and solo playing abilities.
* Knowledge, passion and appreciation of the repertoire performed by the BBC Philharmonic.
* Ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively; provide artistic direction and inspire section and orchestra.
* Leadership skills to give constructive feedback, manage sensitive issues, and set high musical standards.
* Interpersonal skills to contribute in a diverse team and support colleagues, conductors, and freelancers.
