Description

Want a career in internal audit that sets you apart?

Bishop Fleming is a dynamic audit, accounting, tax and advisory business. Our strength lies in our people and the relationships they build with our clients and each other. That is why, among numerous other awards, we are Great Place to Work-Certified™ and ranked as a Best Workplace™ for Women!

Start your career by seeing how organisations really work

At Bishop Fleming, we do things differently. Internal audit isn’t just about numbers - it’s about understanding how an organisation operates, identifying risks, and helping businesses improve.

If you're looking for a hands-on career where you can start learning straight away - without immediately (or ever!) committing to further exams - this could be the perfect opportunity.

What is Internal Audit?

Internal audit is about understanding how organisations work from the inside.

Rather than focusing only on finance, you’ll get involved in reviewing and understanding:

1. How organisations manage risk and make decisions

2. Operational processes across different departments

3. Governance, controls, and compliance frameworks

4. Areas such as IT systems, procurement, Human Resources, and service delivery

You’ll work with a wide range of organisations - including companies, housing associations, charities, education providers, and other diverse and interesting organisations - giving you a broader and more varied experience than many traditional entry-level roles.

Be part of our remarkable growth story, working with ambitious and inspiring clients across diverse industries.

What you’ll be doing

As an Internal Audit Associate, you’ll be part of a team delivering internal audits for clients. From day one, you’ll start building practical skills and experience, gradually taking on more responsibility as your confidence and experience grow.

The role will include:

5. Supporting internal audit reviews across a variety of organisations

6. Learning how to assess risks and evaluate controls

7. Speaking with client teams to understand how processes work

8. Testing key controls and documenting findings

9. Contributing to reports that help organisations improve

What You’ll Gain with Us

This role is designed for people who want to start working and learning straight away, rather than immediately entering an exam-heavy programme.

You’ll receive:

10. On-the-job training and support from experienced internal audit professionals

11. Exposure to clients and real work from the beginning

12. Structured development as you build your skills and confidence

There may be the opportunity, in time, to pursue a professional qualification such as the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), but this is something to consider once you’ve gained practical experience.

But it's not all about work. Our trainees are all encouraged to make a wider contribution through business development activities and initiatives such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), diversity, sports and social activities. This allows you to develop into both technical experts and the potential future leaders of our business.

We know this gives our business a refreshingly different, people-focussed culture. It is no coincidence then, that we've been ranked 11th in the Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers 2025 and have also achieved an Outstanding Ofsted rating.

Ready to Shine? Show Us Your Spark

If you're enthusiastic and motivated with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you! Our entry requirements include:

13. 3 A Levels (Or Equivalent) with minimum grades of CCC/96 UCAS points

14. 9 GCSE’s 9-4 (A*-C) with at least Grade 4 (C) in Maths and English

We’re open to both school leavers and graduates who are looking for a more practical career path.

As well as our academic requirements, we’re looking for someone who is:

15. Curious and interested in how organisations work

16. A strong communicator with good attention to detail

17. Keen to learn and develop in a practical environment

18. Confident working with people and asking questions

19. Motivated and willing to take on responsibility
