We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our Design team based in London. The role involves working within the Construction Engineering team to deliver complex construction engineering services, leading delivery of some services, and providing safe and buildable solutions.
Location: SE1, London
Hours: 40 hours per week (some flexibility available).
What will you be responsible for?
As a Design Engineer, you'll support Kier in delivering a broad range of complex construction engineering services, leading the delivery of specific services, and providing solutions that are safe and buildable.
* Agree technical requirements with client, develop fee proposals, and manage engineer workload ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies (CDM, SHEMS, QMS).
* Oversee and contribute to design deliverables (calculations, drawings, reports, risk assessments), identify value‑engineering opportunities, and nurture client relationships to meet contractual obligations.
* Represent projects at client meetings, manage financial and commercial aspects with Engineering Manager and Commercial Manager, and monitor progress against schedule and budget.
* Maintain project documentation, provide regular reports, and give early warnings on issues.
* Review invoices, collect client feedback, and promote continuous improvement.
What are we looking for?
* Completed IEng Initial Professional Development (or CEng equivalent) and relevant professional institution membership (e.g., ICE). Practical industry experience.
* Level 6 or Level 7 qualifications and significant relevant experience.
