HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Literacy Lead) | Liverpool North - SEND School
Job Type: Temporary with potential permanent role for right candidate
Pay: From £120 per day (depending on experience and responsibilities)
We are seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to lead and coordinate literacy provision across the school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of how children learn to read and a commitment to raising literacy standards for all learners, including those with English as an additional language (EAL).
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and coordinating literacy provision across the school
Delivering phonics, spelling, comprehension and wider literacy interventions
Championing oracy as the school's Voice 21 lead
Supporting reading, writing and oracy initiatives alongside the English Lead
Coaching and collaborating with staff to improve understanding of literacy and phonics
Contributing to the school's inclusive and diverse whole-school reading strategy
Supporting pupils with a range of SEND including ASC, ADHD, and SEMH
What we're looking for:
HLTA status or substantial experience supporting literacy in a school setting
Expertise in phonics, spelling, and comprehension strategies
Strong understanding of the secondary English curriculum and literacy frameworks
Passion for reading and inclusive education
Experience delivering impactful literacy interventions
Excellent interpersonal skills and appreciation of cultural diversity
Calm, patient, and confident approach
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
