Overview
We are seeking a Band 6 Junior Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Team at St Martin's Hospital, Canterbury. The role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB).
We are KMPT, providing mental health, learning disability and specialist services, serving 1.8 million people across the county. The Trust is rated Good overall by the CQC and Outstanding for care, with 3,283 staff across 66 buildings and 33 locations.

The role offers opportunity to complete a clinical certificate/diploma and train as a Mental Health Pharmacist through individually tailored developmental support.
Responsibilities
* Provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy and medicines management service to the mental health unit, including ward visits, multidisciplinary team meetings and consultant reviews in an inpatient setting.
* Attend ward rounds, provide patient education and counselling, contribute to clinical audit and medicines information.
* Support patients and their families by advising on medication use, optimising treatment, providing information and liaising with acute and other care providers to ensure seamless transfer of care.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to improve care through medicines management; participate in audits and projects to evaluate and improve services in line with Trust priorities.
* Learn on the job through formal learning and work-based practice; progress towards a clinical certificate/diploma and mental health pharmacist development with support from senior staff.
* Collaborate with the Trust-wide pharmacy team for additional support when required; receive clinical supervision from experienced senior clinical pharmacists.
* Contribute to pharmacy and medicines management services to inpatient wards and support the development of services.
Qualifications and Development
* Enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist with the ability to learn and build experience through on-the-job training and formal learning.
* No prior mental health experience required; however, a commitment to compassionate care and medicines optimisation is essential.
