Science Technician

Mixed Secondary School, Ipswich

£100-£120 per day

September 2025

Are you enthusiastic about science and keen to support the next generation of learners? We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join our vibrant Science Department at our 11–16 secondary school in Ipswich. Working in this Secondary School as part of an established team, the desired Science Technician will be responsible for preparing materials for the classroom, assisting the Science teachers in the department and ensuring the safety and risk assessment of experiments.

We are looking for a Science Technician with a strong academic background in science, experience in working in a school is desired but not necessary, although we do require some background in laboratory technician or laboratory assistant roles. Science Technicians at this school are organised, enthusiastic individuals with a genuine interest in science and education to support our students and staff in delivering engaging, practical science lessons.

The Role
As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engaging and practical science lessons. You will:

1. Prepare and maintain equipment, materials, and resources for experiments and demonstrations.
2. Support teaching staff in practical lessons, ensuring a safe and well-organised environment.
3. Maintain laboratory spaces to high standards of cleanliness and safety.
4. Assist with stock control, ordering, and equipment repairs.
5. Contribute to the smooth running of the Science Department as a valued team member.

Looking for a Science Technician who:

6. Has a keen interest in science and practical work (experience in a school or laboratory setting is desirable, but training can be provided).
7. Demonstrates good organisational skills and attention to detail.
8. Can work independently as well as part of a team.
9. Has a strong awareness of health and safety practices.
