To assist the Registered Manager in ensuring that the Home meets the standards and expectations of its Statement of Purpose and exceeds National Minimum Standards for the quality of care provided.
To assist in establishing and maintaining a competent, motivated and confident staff team; providing leadership, managerial direction, guidance and support to staff at junior levels.
To liaise with Local Authorities, schools, health, and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and achieve the best outcomes for young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities
Implementing high quality standards of care, ensuring each young person has a regularly reviewed plan which reflects his or her care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic and health needs.
Working in partnership with parents, families, carers and other professionals to advocate for, meet the needs of, safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.
Assisting the Registered Manager in ensuring all new staff receive a proper induction to the Home, that each member of staff receives regular supervision, has a personal development plan and is clear about expectations and objectives.
Managing the day to day running of the home, in the Home Manager’s absence, ensuring the effective allocation of resources and budgets and appropriate risk management.
Participating in an on-call rota system and working as part of the care team, when required, to cover various shifts including early mornings, late evenings and sleep-ins, on weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Role-modelling approaches to managing challenging behaviour and nurturing positive relationships with children and young people.
Promoting an organisational culture which values every team member’s contribution and balances confidentiality with transparency; direction and control with delegation and individual initiative; and innovation with the requirement to follow established procedures.
