An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Resuscitation Officer within the Adult Resuscitation Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a substantive, part-time role (30 hours over 4 days).

The post holder will deliver in-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation, immediate airway management and defibrillation skills training to multidisciplinary Trust staff in the emergency medical management of acutely ill adult patients. A recognised teaching qualification is required, alongside expert teaching skills. ALS instructor status is also needed.
Applicants should have current resuscitation/critical care experience due to a clinical aspect involving attendance at cardiac arrest situations and medical emergencies across the Trust. The post holder will participate in auditing of cardiac arrest procedures, reported through Trust Governance. The team emphasises compassionate care and the Leeds Way and supports staff development with a range of learning opportunities.
Main duties
As part of the Resuscitation Services team, the post holder will be responsible for the training and education of Trust staff of all grades and disciplines in the emergency medical management of acutely ill patients. The post holder should be highly experienced in resuscitation and hold a current registrant status (e.g., NHAT Paramedic, RN or ODP) with appropriate clinical leadership experience. The role requires working across LTHT sites with flexibility to travel as needed.
Key requirements include:
* Current Resuscitation Council (UK) certificate in adult resuscitation
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team under pressure
Responsibilities include planning, organising and implementing Resuscitation Services and training for all clinical and non-clinical staff across hospital sites; maintaining training records; and ensuring alignment with Trust policy and Resuscitation Committee governance.

Job responsibilities
* Promote the importance of resuscitation throughout the Trust through negotiation and presentation of specialist knowledge and skills
* Lead the cardiac arrest team where appropriate and advise on treatment during the immediate post-resuscitation period
* Utilise clinical skills including cannulation, administration of emergency drugs, ECG interpretation, defibrillation and intubation
* Develop and deliver intermediate and basic life support educational programmes to meet local standards
* Attend resuscitation procedures and cardiac arrest calls across the Trust in an educational and supportive role
* Advise on resuscitation policies, procedures and equipment; lead a cardiopulmonary arrest when required
* Promote changes in staff behaviour to optimise patient survival; provide debriefing and counselling to staff
* Disseminate sensitive information to patients and relatives; support multi-disciplinary teams
* Coordinate audit performance of cardiac/pulmonary arrests; maintain clear team responsibilities
* Ensure that national Resuscitation Council standards are upheld and training records are accurate
* Promote safe and effective practice in resuscitation provision; support Paediatric Resuscitation Service and Neonatal national courses
* Keep updated with resuscitation guidelines; deputise for the resuscitation team leader when required
Experience, qualifications and skills
Experience — Essential: Significant post-registration experience; teaching experience; experience in audits. Desirable: Quality improvement.
Qualifications — Essential: Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) Instructor Certificate or working towards; registered professional status.
Skills & behaviours — Essential: Excellent written and verbal communication; IT competence (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); project management.
