EQUANS is looking for a Mobile Fire Door Inspector for the Knowsley Schools contract in Liverpool, covering various sites across the North West. This permanent full‑time position requires 40 hours per week and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
General Overview
The Fire Door Inspector ensures public safety by identifying, investigating, and reducing risks. The role involves developing relationships and maintaining proactive communication with all stakeholders. Work is planned and prioritised within recognised safe systems of work, business policies, procedures, and in accordance with health and safety legislation. The Inspector will support the "one team" approach and work with colleagues to provide good working relationships within the University of Sheffield contract and the wider NW & C region. Reporting is to the Fire Door Supervisor.
Impact
The Inspector has accountability for inspecting fire doors within University Accommodation Buildings and must act reliably, conscientiously, and professionally, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels. The role requires working independently while adhering to procedures and maintaining time management, organisation, and flexibility.
Responsibilities
* Carry out inspections of fire doors at each site in a timely, efficient and cost‑effective manner.
* Use the Bolster app on the PDA (tablet) to follow a checklist and report the status of each fire door.
* Build professional relationships with clients.
* Maintain accurate and precise documentation of works completed.
* Follow processes to ensure each inspection is completed correctly.
* Keep the company vehicle clean, tidy and presentable.
* Handle tools of various types and ensure safe set up.
* Adhere to safety guidelines whilst on the job site.
* Ensure all tools and machinery are kept clean and in good repair.
* Ensure all specifications are met.
* Communicate effectively.
* Liase and undertake duties at other EQUANS projects as directed by Senior Management.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience of carrying out Fire Door Inspections is essential.
* Recognised Fire Door Inspection qualifications (FDIS, BRE, etc.).
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* Sound understanding of Health and Safety Legislation (SMSTS, IOSH or NEBOSH).
* Confident communicator with excellent customer interaction skills.
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
* Administrative skills, including use of CAFM system and Microsoft Office applications.
