Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint a Speciality Doctor in General Internal Medicine and Cardiology to work within our Adult Medicine department, based as Tameside General Hospital.
Job Summary
The post is within the Cardiology department and the main activities comprise outpatient clinics, diagnostic tests, ward rounds and on‑call duties for general internal medicine. Successful applicants will work alongside a team of 6 highly experienced consultants, 4 experienced middle‑grades and a Deanery Specialty Doctor.
Responsibilities
* Participate in various outpatient activities, including the medical management of patients attending outpatient.
* Ensure the effective organisation of the ward, including diagnosis and treatment of all patients.
* Provide appropriate discharge of patients, with timely paperwork to the General Practitioner to ensure a continuation of care.
* Directly supervise and train the Ward Junior Medical Staff and organise delegation of clinical duties.
* Monitor the quality of service provided by Cardiology, including clinical aspects.
* Actively participate in various committees and working groups.
* Participate in the development of medical treatment protocols.
* Provide professional supervision under Consultant guidance to encourage development of all doctors within the Emergency Services and Critical Care.
* Contribute to the provision of reports for the Coroner, Police Statements, and for Complaints management, adhering to timeframes.
* Demonstrate involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical practice.
* Collaborate with Clinical teams for patient care improvement.
* Ensure own practice is up to date, take responsibility for own clinical professional development and participate in the Trustwide appraisal system.
* Comply with data protection and all relevant Trust Policies.
* Undertake regular on‑call duties for acute medical on‑call.

Salary & Contract
Salary: £61,542 – £99,216 a year, 2 PA allowance for on‑call duties. Permanent, full‑time contract.

Essential Qualifications
* Relevant experience as a speciality trainee (or equivalent competencies).
* GMC registration and licence to practise.
* MRCP (Part 1).
* ACLS (or equivalent).
* ALS (or equivalent).
Desirable Qualifications
* MRCP (Part 2).
Essential Skills
* IT skills, decision making & ability to show initiative.
* Effective communication, team player with ability to prioritise workload.
* Broad experience in cardiology.
Desirable Skills
* Evidence of attendance to 'Teaching for Teachers' or similar course.
