Summary of Job Purpose

As Head of PMO, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Alnwick Project Management Office, ensuring successful delivery of customer and non‑customer projects—on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role will embed governance, commercial insight, and continuous improvement across the PM function, acting as a key interface between clients, internal teams, and senior leadership. You will influence site planning and resource allocation, maintain portfolio visibility, and champion customer advocacy throughout the organisation.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership

* Lead and develop the PM team, ensuring succession planning and recruitment for key roles.
* Align PMO objectives with site and corporate strategy, influencing S&OP and resource planning.
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.


Voice of the Customer

* Act as the primary conduit between clients and internal teams, ensuring exceptional customer experience.
* Drive proactive communication, schedule adherence, and issue resolution.
* Champion customer advocacy and support case studies and testimonial opportunities.


Governance & Control

* Implement consistent governance frameworks (risk registers, RACI, milestone tracking).
* Ensure compliance with standard work practices and contractual obligations.
* Oversee change order management and escalation processes.


Project Visibility & Reporting

* Maintain a single source of truth for all projects through dashboards and portfolio reporting.
* Provide accurate forecasting of timelines, resources, and financial performance.
* Deliver executive‑level reporting to SLT, highlighting risks, opportunities, and KPIs.
* Support profitability analysis and cost modelling for projects.
* Monitor project margins and identify efficiency opportunities.
* Collaborate with finance and operations to ensure accurate billing and change order impact assessment.
* Lead lessons learned reviews and maintain a Continuous Improvement database.
* Identify and implement process enhancements to reduce non‑value‑added activities.
* Drive initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.


Qualifications & Experience

* Significant experience in project management within pharmaceutical, biotech, or scientific services.
* Proven leadership and team development skills, with prior line management responsibility.
* Strong commercial acumen, including cost modelling and profitability analysis.
* Expertise in governance frameworks, portfolio reporting, and resource planning.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficiency in resource management systems, Gantt charting, and project management tools
