Are you an experienced General Manager with a strong background in hospitality, retail, or forecourt operations ? Join Route 74 Truckstop, part of Hayton Coulthard Transport and take charge of one of Scotland's busiest roadside destinations. Our site offers secure parking for up to 170 trucks, a full-service restaurant, fuel station, showers and retail facilities. All designed to keep drivers moving and customers satisfied.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our truckstop. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage multiple services including the restaurant, forecourt, retail, and site facilities. You'll inspire your team, deliver excellent customer service, and ensure the site runs efficiently and safely while driving commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Manager: Oversee all areas including forecourt, parking, truck wash, showers, restaurant, and retail.
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and motivate a multi-functional team; manage rotas and performance.
Customer Experience: Deliver outstanding service to drivers and the public; handle feedback and resolve issues professionally.
Compliance & Safety: Maintain health & safety, food hygiene, and legal standards; conduct audits and risk assessments.
Financial Management: Control budgets, stock, and supplier relationships; monitor KPIs and drive profitability.
Facilities: Ensure the site and equipment are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a General Manager or similar in hospitality, retail or service environments.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Knowledge of health & safety, food hygiene and employment law.
Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and KPIs.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Familiarity with rota management and POS systems.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
