Job Summary
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to make a substantive whole‑time appointment to a newly established post with Bury Mental Health Services. This post will cover a sector of the Bury area and has been created following the departure of the current consultant.
The Bury general adult psychiatry service operates since 2008 with a team of consultants deployed as follows: three consultants in community and outpatient areas, one in Early Intervention, two in inpatient/home treatment and an A&E Liaison team, and one in Living Well.
The appointed consultant will work with other sector consultants (East, West and South sector community outpatients). Patients will be seen in community clinics, at their homes or in other clinical settings as required.
There is an opportunity to contribute to the Trust’s innovation program and to the teaching of medical and nursing staff.

Person Specification
Medical Degree – Essential
* MBChB or equivalent
Desirable
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
GMC Registration – Essential
* Full registration with GMC
Desirable
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Specialist Register – Essential
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of appointment
Approved Clinician Status – Essential
* Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
S12 Approval – Essential
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment
Knowledge in Psychiatry – Essential
* Excellent knowledge in adult psychiatry, including experience of a range of conditions and complex psychological problems
Desirable
* Wide range of specialist and sub‑specialist experience relevant to the post within NHS or comparable service
* Possession of MRCPsych or equivalent qualification, and other postgraduate degrees such as MSc, MD, MRCP
* Experience in detention of patients under the Mental Health Act 1983 and writing reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals
* Possession of CCT or within six months of achieving this, especially in General Adult Psychiatry
* Evidence of teaching, audit activity, and participation in on‑call rota
* Interest in management and service development, published audit or research work, and enthusiasm for innovation
