Nursing Associate

Job summary
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Nursing Associate to join our Home 1st (Urgent Community Response) team. You will deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care to patients in their own homes, supporting independence and helping to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care as part of the Home 1st team, supporting early intervention and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions.
* Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate urgent and short‑term care for patients experiencing acute deterioration or crisis at home.
* Carry out a wide range of delegated clinical tasks within scope of practice, including clinical observations (NEWS2), wound care, catheter care and medicines administration.
* Recognise, respond to and escalated signs of deterioration, contributing to rapid decision‑making within a multidisciplinary urgent care pathway.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and partner services, maintaining accurate electronic clinical records to support safe and coordinated care.
* Uphold NMC standards and CNWL values, contributing to patient safety, service improvement and continuous professional development within a fast‑paced community service.

Person specification – qualifications
* Successful completion of the Nursing Associate trainee programme.
* Evidence of the Nursing Associate Qualification (higher apprenticeship and/or a relevant Foundation Degree programme).
* NMC Registration.
* Membership of a recognised and relevant professional body.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
Knowledge & Experience – essential
* Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Able to deal with non‑routine situations and the unpredictable nature of the workload and individual patient contact.
* Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
* Able to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision duties.
* Understanding the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of the team and the organisation and how the role may contribute to service development.
* Able to communicate with members of the public and health and care providers.
* Knowledge of where to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional.
* Understanding the importance of the promotion of health and well‑being (Making Every Contact Count).
* Understanding evidence‑based practice.
* Able to evaluate, act upon and report appropriately a range of clinical values when recording a patient's vital signs.
* Experience of supporting and developing less experienced staff.
* Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
