Head of Building Services & Facilities Management – Public Sector Scotland (Glasgow base with national travel – open to candidates UK wide)

A leading public sector organisation is seeking a
Head of Building Services & Facilities Management
to join on an initial contract basis, with a clear opportunity to transition into a permanent position.
This is a
high‑profile leadership role, responsible for shaping and delivering the strategic direction of building services, engineering, and facilities management across a large, complex estate.
You’ll play a key role in driving operational excellence, compliance, and innovation while leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee national delivery of hard and soft FM services
Lead the management of mechanical & electrical systems, maintenance programmes, and life safety systems
Manage supplier and contractor relationships
Lead and develop high‑performing multidisciplinary teams across a complex operational environment
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Extensive senior leadership experience in building services, engineering, or facilities management
A strong track record of delivering large‑scale property or estates programmes
Proven experience managing compliance, life safety, M&E systems, and operational FM delivery
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments
Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, ideally including NEC4 frameworks
Experience driving innovation, digital transformation, and service improvement initiatives
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience engaging at Executive/Board level
Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered status – MRICS, CEng, MCIBSE or equivalent) and relevant degree
Must be able to pass SC Level security clearance vetting.
