Our client is a civil and structural engineering consultancy specialising in temporary works, demolition engineering, and complex cut-and-carve projects across the UK. Were looking for a Structural / Temporary Works Engineer with around 47 years of UK design experience to help deliver safe, buildable and cost-effective solutions on a wide range of challenging schemes.
The Role:
* Take ownership of temporary works designs from initial brief through to issue (calcs, sketches, design statements, notes).
* Typical work includes faade retention, propping/needling, crane platforms, falsework/formwork, heavy lifting frames, and demolition stability.
* Work closely with TWC/TWDs, contractors and site teams, including attending site when required.
* Coordinate with technicians to develop clear drawings and 3D information.
* Apply BS 5975 procedural controls and relevant Eurocodes with a practical, buildability-led approach.
Key Requirement:
Essential
* 47 years UK temporary works or structural design experience.
* Strong working knowledge of BS 5975 and Eurocodes (EN 1990/1991/1993).
* Competent in Tedds / STAAD / Robot and confident producing hand calculations.
* A contractor-focused, practical mindset and confidence working on live construction sites.
* Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Desirable
* Experience with demolition or other high-risk temporary works.
* Progress toward IEng/CEng (ICE/IStructE).
* Familiarity with proprietary systems (RMD, Mabey, Ischebeck) and AutoCAD/Tekla/Revit.
