The Leys Health Centre is looking for a dynamic GP to work in an practice that serves a growing list of currently 12,300 patients many of which are from a deprived population with low health literacy and poor health outcomes. We work within a PCN of three practices who share similar values and patient profiles. The PCN plays an active role in providing direct patient care on behalf of the practices.
We are looking for a 4 - 8 session GP. For candidates interested in Asylum Seeker health we provide medical services to a large asylum hotel in our practice catchment area. There is potential to work with University of Oxford students in placement modules covering Asylum Seeker/Refugee Health care.
Main duties of the job
Providing primary medical care to a list (no more than 250 patients per session) including administrative and clinical care.
Each session consists of 13 appointments or equivalent.
Providing effective total triage using Accurx on a prorata basis depending upon the number of sessions a GP works.
We have a strong Personal Assistant team providing admin support to GPs, along with a pharmacy team providing medication processing from hospital letters and discharges.

Working closely with our PCN clinical and non-clinical team

The practice is in a purpose built premises led by a four partner team along with salaried GPs, chronic disease nurses, practice nurses, physiotherapists, paramedics and an experience non-clinical team.
We are training and research practice
We have participated in total triage for GP appointments for over two years. We are proactive in developing systems and interventions to promote high quality patient care with the aim of continuously improving the health outcomes of our patients.
Job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include performing medical examinations, prescribing medication, arranging diagnostic tests, referring patients to specialists when necessary, and managing chronic conditions. Promotingpreventative care, offer health education, maintain patient records, and work with a wider team of healthcare professionals to promote community health.
