Senior Philanthropy Manager / Deputy Development Director
Join one of Cambridge’s most inspiring communities. Newnham College is a women’s college with a global alumnae network and a proud history of championing access, excellence, and research that changes lives. Having recently exceeded our £25m campaign target, we’re now preparing our next major fundraising initiative — and we’re looking for a Senior Philanthropy Manager to play a leading role.
As part of the University of Cambridge, you’ll work with exceptional colleagues, alumnae, and donors who care deeply about Newnham’s mission. You’ll manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, secure five and six‑figure donations, and lead on stewardship and legacies, including the Sidgwick Society. You’ll also act as Deputy Development Director, supporting strategy, budgeting, and campaign planning, and managing two team members.
We’re looking for someone with around five years’ fundraising experience who loves building meaningful relationships and can confidently ask for—and secure—transformational gifts. You’ll be a clear communicator, organised, collaborative, and genuinely motivated by helping others make an impact.
What you’ll bring
* Proven track record of securing five and six‑figure gifts.
* Experience managing a prospect portfolio and meeting targets.
* Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
* Strong understanding of fundraising best practice and data management.
* A proactive, positive approach to teamwork and leadership.
What we offer
* Salary: £50,253 per year (full‑time, permanent).
* 33 days’ holiday including public holidays, plus your birthday off from January 2026.
* Membership of USS, meals, gym access, parking (when available), and a health plan from April 2026.
* A collaborative team, beautiful surroundings, and the chance to make a lasting difference within the University of Cambridge.
