Medical Telephonist/Call Handler - Shore Medical Group
Shore Medical is a GP Super Partnership with 6 practices across Poole and Bournemouth.
We aim to provide exceptional care to our 58,000 patients and are innovative in developing new teams and pathways to improve general practice delivery.
Our friendly and supportive team of over 200 staff includes more than 40 GPs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Nurses, Mental Health specialists, and administrative personnel.
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time, 65.5 hours over 5 days (multiple slots available)
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Telephonist/Call Handler to join our team at Lilliput Surgery, Poole. The role involves providing accurate, efficient, and punctual medical administration to patients and staff via data input into a clinical triage system.
The role includes assisting patients and the public with telephone queries and contributing to the smooth operation of a busy GP Practice.
The successful candidate may need to undertake a Standard DBS check and other pre-employment checks.
Job Responsibilities
* Providing high-quality data processing to patients on our triage system via telephone or face-to-face interactions.
* Handling varied patient queries by phone and in person.
* Searching computerized patient records upon receiving a call, verifying patient details, and maintaining confidentiality.
* Recording accurate information during calls, sometimes under challenging circumstances, and offering advice or reassurance.
* Entering details into SystmConnect, categorizing the seriousness of illnesses or injuries, and liaising with the care navigation team for appropriate patient care.
* Answering incoming calls promptly, politely, and with a patient-focused approach.
Any other duties as required. This list is not exhaustive.
Education and Experience
* Proven experience in a GP/NHS environment is highly desirable.
* Educated to a high standard of GCSEs in Maths and English.
* Strong IT skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Excellent, calming, and professional telephone manner.
* Knowledge of the NHS is an advantage.
* Ability to work well with others in a sometimes pressurized, time-sensitive environment.
