Join our Team: Business Improvement Manager
Ballymoney - Monday to Thursday (39 hours)
Working as a key member of the Operations Management team and reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for championing all relevant improvement activities at the Ballymoney site with the manufacturing engineering, maintenance and facilities and learning and development functions. You will lead the teams within these functions striving for continuous improvement. You will be responsible for leading projects and events, developing and improving on processes, procedures and activities throughout Operations to ensure we meet all our KPIs across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale. You will coach and lead Team Members onsite in their improvement projects, TIP events and problem-solving activities, ensuring standard practice is adhered to. This role will play a key part of the strategic direction towards operational excellence.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Manage, lead, train and develop team members in your areas of responsibility in line with the objectives of the business.
* Coach, support and advise TIP Leaders and those trained in Problem Solve methods to ensure success of Kaizen events.
* Responsibility for Manufacturing Bills of Materials ownership for existing & new models within ERP SYSTEM (Oracle – TMS) ensuring accuracy and efficiency of material flow to production.
* Oversee New Product & Process Development, Design For Manufacture reviews, Establishing processes, and Production Launches.
* Oversee the make vs buy process for all sites
* Lead Problem Solving activities and assist with training of standard TIP Event and Terex Problem Solving methodologies.
* Identify and deliver training as appropriate for talent development across Operations and other functions.
* Promote Lean manufacturing tools, focusing on Elimination of Waste (Muda), 5S & Visual Management, Kaizen, Level Production (Takt), Material and Assembly Flow, Pull Systems, Inventory Control, Plan for every Part, Just in Time, Jidoka, Kanban, Standardised work.
* Justify Actual Savings (e.g. Manufacturing Spend Savings, Rework reduction, Labour, Warranty, Waste Disposal spend) as well as Purchased Price savings where relevant.
* Work as part of the HSE Steering team in promotion of safe working practices in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and factory regulations, leading investigations, improvements and problem-solving activities where appropriate in line with our Zero Harm vision.
* Assist with meeting all KPIs across the Big Five: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale, with an added responsibility for morale, developing and implementing Reward and Recognition initiatives.
* Work with Operations team to ensure best practice setting up and refining assembly flow lines to improve efficiencies, increase capacity and meet demand requirements.
* By using a 'hands on' gemba approach, you will proactively utilise both lean principles and problem-solving tools and techniques to identify 'takt time variation' and build quality issues with the Operators, and train all staff to eradicate any such variation and their root causes. This will involve cross contact with all other Operational departments such as Production, Purchasing, Production Control, Stores, Quality, Facilities, Health & Safety, Manufacturing Engineering as well as other functions such as Design Engineering, Customer Support and any other as required.
* Responsibility for the continued implementation and development of Visual Management, supporting Production and other Operational teams to ensure adherence to MP Visual Management Road Map.
* Promote and implement best practices on the new NPPD Process and support further developments.
* Develop and maintain detailed plans for all project activities to ensure adherence to deadlines and escalation
* Review processes and drive continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility and undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time.
* Ensure compliance to all general site Rules, Regulations, and Policies.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Previous experience in a senior position, leading people within a manufacturing environment is essential.
* Experience leading, training, developing and motivating teams.
* Ability to demonstrate experience of working within a production line/ manufacturing environment as a successful agent for change.
* Proven track record and practical experience of lean manufacturing tools and techniques and their application is essential.
* Proven experience of coaching and driving lean principles.
* Experience leading TIPs or Kaizen events is essential.
* Proven project management experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills are all essential, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Excellent IT Skills, specifically with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and Oracle.
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Must be adaptable with the ability to work in an environment that is fluid with constantly changing priorities without losing sight of targets.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
* Good general knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
* Ability to learn quickly, use your initiative and work collaboratively as part of a multi-functional team.
* Self-motivated and action oriented.
* Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken.
* Highest level of integrity.
