Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer to join our friendly pharmacy operational team.
We require an experienced individual with drive, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to work under pressure. You should be a team player able to perform effectively within the pharmacy and wider healthcare settings.
In this role you will support the dispensary team with accurate processing and dispensing of medication requests, contribute to the provision of bulk medication supplies to wards and departments, and ensure the smooth running of the pharmacy dispensary service. As a key member of the pharmacy team, you will promote and reflect the WECARE Trust values with colleagues within the department and across the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Support the dispensary team with accurate processing and dispensing of medication requests.

Essential Qualifications
* GCSE grades A/C or 7-4 in English Language, Maths, and Double Science.
* NVQ QCF Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
Essential Experience
* Experience working in a team.
* Experience in a customer care environment.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working in a hospital environment.
Essential Knowledge
* Knowledge of drug use and medication management.
* Understanding of customer care issues.
* Understanding of stock control issues.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice (e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work).
* Understanding of stock control systems.
* Knowledge of safe and secure handling of medicines requirements.
* Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and legislation.
* Demonstrated understanding of patient safety initiatives.
Desirable Knowledge
* Understanding of quality issues.
* Knowledge of medicines management systems at ward level.
Essential Skills
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Interpret and dispense prescriptions accurately.
* Good numeracy skills and ability to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
* IT literate and able to use Microsoft Office.
* Able to plan own work.
* Able to work alone or as part of a team with different grades of staff.
* Able to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Good attention to detail.
* Able to follow policies and procedures.
* Time management skills.
* Ability to problem‑solve.

* Enhanced check with a check of the barred lists required for patient‑facing staff and may interact with adults / children.
