CX719 Personal Assistant (6 to 12 hrs per week, HU9)
A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support an 18-year-old young man to access social and leisure activities within the community.
He is easy‑going, cheeky and a joy to be around. He does not have tantrums but when he does not like something, he will let you know with a sign for no and a shake of the head. He enjoys spending time doing a variety of activities and is fun to spend time with. He is also a very affectionate boy who cares greatly for others and enjoys seeing other people happy. He is always quick to offer a cuddle and a smile (he has an infectious smile) when he thinks you need it.
He is very happy, enjoys a laugh and jokes, and likes teasing banter such as who will win at bowling. He likes music (particularly Hits Radio East Yorkshire), gaming on the PlayStation 5, watching sport, game shows, walks, the beach, and going out bowling or cinema. He loves to get involved, but may watch for a bit before joining in if it’s something new.
He enjoys going to the pub for lunch, especially if there is sport playing on a TV.
He has a very limited view of danger and limited balance. The successful candidate must keep him safe when out in the community and support him when crossing roads or going up ramps or steps. While his parents assist with most personal care tasks, he will need support to use the toilet when out in the community, particularly transferring.
A car driver would be preferred, but the right personality—relaxed, patient and easy to get along with—is much more important. Fixed mileage payments are paid weekly for term time and holidays.
The successful applicant will be employed subject to a DBS check.
