We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Healthcare team at HMP Sudbury, a Category D prison near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. The prison supports around 660 male patients, many of whom have complex physical health and low‑level mental health needs. The role involves completing referrals to hospital and external services for patients who are reintegrating back into the community.
Hours
Monday: 08:30‑17:00. This is a part‑time role, working 8 hours or 2 sessions per week.
Salary
The salary for this role is up to £125,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and further develop your knowledge in areas not normally experienced within a general practice or A&E environment.
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients, making timely decisions regarding future management.
* Serve as a highly specialist resource for other members of the healthcare team on site and for the patients you work with.
* Maintain active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.
Qualifications
* MBChB or MBBS.
* Registered on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications.
