Job Description
Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Do you want to do meaningful work that improves quality of life? At Tetra Tech, you will work with high-performing teams who are passionate about using their expertise to find solutions to complex problems in water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy, and international development.
Tetra Tech is one of the largest and fastest growing environmental consultancies in the world and in 2023, the Engineering News-Record (ENR) ranked Tetra Tech #1 in Water for the 20th year in a row.
We currently have multiple positions to fill within our flood risk team due to ongoing growth with our existing client base and new project wins. We are seeking a Senior Engineer to support our Water Engineering team across the UK, ideally based in Manchester, Leeds, Chorley, Cockermouth, or London, but other locations may be considered for the right candidate. Our team undertakes a wide variety of major infrastructure projects for both private and public sectors, focusing on integrated flood risk and drainage solutions with advanced design.
Our flood risk projects include schemes for local authorities, the MOD, water utility providers, and high-profile housing developers, covering flood alleviation, surface water separation, natural flood management, and Sustainable Urban Drainage systems.
As a project leader, you will guide teams, support clients, and assist in bidding activities, enhancing your skills and sector knowledge. Responsibilities include managing projects involving river, coastal, and flood defence appraisal and design, hydraulic modelling, hydrology assessment, surface water management, and business case development. Projects range from £10k to £100m and serve sectors like defence, transport, local government, utilities, commercial, industrial, and residential development.
You will work independently on technical tasks, support junior staff, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. We provide training, mentoring, CPD, and a flexible hybrid working policy, with some travel and outside hours as needed.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, a desire to progress, and experience in flood risk and surface water projects, including solution development and project delivery.
