We are seeking a centre lead for the newly established Centre for Creative Practice Research (CCPR) which will support and develop researchers across the School of Media and Creative Industries and the wider university.
Research Groups
* Photography Research Group: Bridging Photographies, Cultures, Communities – led by Professor Alex Moschovi
* Co‑Lab: Social, Creative and Participatory Research Group – Led by Professor Caroline Mitchell with Dr Suzy O'Hara, Dr Helen Smith, Dr Adelle Hulsmeier
Together, these clusters will combine creative practice disciplines and research including art, design, performance, radio, creative writing, photography, film, and journalism. We will also link with other disciplines where creative practice is relevant (for example education, business and health) to deliver research and innovation which has a positive impact on society, external partners, government, industry, communities and curriculum.
Responsibilities
* Reporting to the strategic lead Professor Kevin Petrie, the role holder will work closely with academics in these clusters and in the wider school community.
* Develop and coordinate partnerships and funding bids (targeting an average of four externally funded joint projects within a three‑year review period, where the grant has an aspect of overhead recovery or buy‑out).
* Be responsible for staff engagement and consultation to support colleagues to engage with research, the centre and groups to increase REF outputs and external funding.
Qualifications & Experience
* Hold a PhD, supported by a relevant postgraduate or master's degree, with proven experience of securing external research funding, leading high‑quality research and external engagement, and collaborating effectively across the School, Faculty and wider University.
* Demonstrate a strong record of producing REF‑able research, alongside experience in recruiting and supervising PhD students.
* Have substantial teaching experience in a relevant subject area – or significant professional industry expertise – along with established higher‑education teaching experience and involvement in student recruitment activities.
