Head Of Compliance - Consumer Insurance Sector

The Firm
MB&G is a rapidly changing FCA regulated SME delivering a variety of specialist consumer insurances via specialist retail outlets, e.g., furniture and vehicle retailers. It has a highly developed technological base and needs to increase its skill levels to meet the evolving expectations of the FCA and its clients and customers.
The Main Purpose of the Job
The Compliance team has responsibilities including developing, promoting, and maintaining high compliance standards within the firm, overseeing its retailers, and enhancing the customer journey. The team manages enterprise risks, FCA and data protection risks, and ensures effective governance.
The role involves developing and implementing a detailed data management policy aligned with best practices, managing enterprise risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Head of Compliance will work closely with the MD & the Board, embedding risk awareness across the organization, and coordinating projects internally and externally.

What we are looking for:
A degree-level qualification with experience in risk and compliance within the financial services sector. Proven ability to develop compliance programs, excellent communication skills, self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of building relationships with colleagues and partners.
Main Tasks of the role:
1. Develop and manage Horizon Scanning for the firm.
2. Create a proportionate compliance strategy.
3. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a compliance culture.
4. Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation.
5. Coordinate with external auditors for compliance and audits.
6. Develop cyber & data security strategies.
7. Establish metrics framework and oversight of the compliance team.
Experience, knowledge, and qualifications:
* Minimum 2 years in Compliance Management.
* Degree or equivalent qualification.
* Professional compliance qualification preferred.
* Practical knowledge of risk management and compliance principles.
* Experience managing compliance functions, preferably within financial services or insurance sectors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Risk management tools and techniques.
* Understanding of compliance principles in a commercial environment.
* Project management skills.
* Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Ability to report to senior management.
* Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Flexibility and adaptability.
* Knowledge of FCA consumer insurance approach and industry standards.
* Experience working with regulators.
* Proficiency in risk, compliance, and project management software, Excel, and PowerPoint.
