Main duties of the job
This role is key to ensuring the effective management of the Trust's Capital programme, guaranteeing the timely and successful delivery of projects from inception to completion across all of our hospitals. The post holder will be responsible for the overall delivery of programmes within budget and to the highest quality standards, and will play a pivotal role in shaping, implementing, and developing the Trust's Estate Strategy, including master planning and strategic options.
As Deputy Head of Capital Projects, you will lead the planning, delivery, and management of major capital developments, playing a pivotal role in the transformation of our hospital estate. You will oversee the redevelopment of our facilities to create a modern, state‑of‑the‑art environment that supports the delivery of outstanding healthcare for the people of Hillingdon and beyond.
Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, you will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

Person Spec
Essential
* Degree in Architectural, Construction, Building or Engineering discipline
* Corporate member of a relevant chartered institute (RIBA, RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, etc.)
* Extensive experience in building project design, specification and management
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
* Experience in Construction Design Management (CDM)
* Familiarity with construction process, principles, standards and techniques
* Advanced skills in management software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
* Understanding of estate policy and current guidance documentation in health care and building
Desirable
* Further personal postgraduate development equivalent to Masters level
* PRINCE2 Foundation qualification
* Clear understanding of the complex nature of the NHS environment
* Knowledge of Estates Management
* Experience in commercial business management
* In‑depth managerial, financial and strategic knowledge gained through courses and/or experience
* Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create conditions for successful partnership working
