Job Description
Join Marie Curie as a Senior Nurse and make a real difference to patients and families at one of life’s most important moments. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, offering a chance to shape high‑quality palliative care.
As a Senior Nurse you will manage a team of Registered Nurses, Nurse Associates and Healthcare Assistants, support the Clinical Nurse Manager and oversee delivery, supervision and quality review of clinical services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support a team of nurses and healthcare assistants, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
* Ensure compliance with Marie Curie policies, procedures and clinical standards.
* Oversee caseload management and contribute to service delivery planning.
* Support investigations into incidents and complaints, ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
* Drive quality improvement initiatives and participate in audits and research.
* Deputise for the Clinical Nurse Manager when required.
* Promote patient‑centred care and advocate for individuals and families.
* Ensure effective communication with patients, families and the wider community.
* Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities.

Job Structure
Permanent; Full Time 37.5 Hours/Week
Shifts
9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday, with occasional night shifts.
Salary
Marie Curie Pay Scale Band 6 (aligned with AFC) £38,682 – £46,580 per annum, plus a High‑Cost Area Supplement.
Based
Hybrid – Primarily home based, with occasional night shifts at Clayponds Hospital as agreed.
What We Are Looking For
o Registered Nurse on NMC Register with relevant qualification and experience.
o Experience caring for patients with palliative care needs.
o Strong time‑management skills and commitment to high‑quality care.
o Experience in observation and assessment of clinical practice.
o An understanding of specific needs of patients in terminal phase.
o Excellent communication, organisational and team‑working skills.
o IT proficiency and ability to travel as required.
