We are an established and growing accountancy practice based in Shirley, and we are looking for a motivated Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in practice bookkeeping, looking to work in a supportive and flexible environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate bookkeeping services to a portfolio of clients across various industries, assisting in the preparation of VAT returns, and supporting the wider accounts team.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple clients
* Process and reconcile bank transactions, sales, and purchase ledgers
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with current HMRC regulations
* Liaise directly with clients to request information and resolve queries
* Assist with management accounts and year-end accounts preparation
* Use cloud-based accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
* Support clients with bookkeeping queries and software use where needed
* Maintain excellent communication and relationships with clients and team members
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a bookkeeping role, preferably within an accountancy practice
* Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and VAT
* Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
* Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Experience with cloud-based systems and apps (e.g. Dext, Hubdoc, etc.)
* Familiarity with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance
