What you will be doing
as a Network Metering Technician
1. Use current planning systems to review all activity and retrieve the activity to carry out suitable maintenance.
2. Use technical systems to review history and be able to carry out a suitable maintenance strategy.
3. Making technical decisions on work being carried out, keeping in mind the impact on the network as well as how customers, internal and external, are affected.
4. Working with field teams and the control function to determine the cause of complex/difficult flow and pressure issues.
5. Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on zonal and district /zonal meters, critical pressure points, Bulk Meters and CNUS logging, for example.
6. Always maintaining key material/equipment stocks on your Van.
What should you bring to the role?
7. A time served apprentice with significant experience of electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity.
8. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, BTEC or C&G level 3 in electrical/electronic engineering is crucial.
9. We are looking for someone who having completed a craft apprenticeship, has electrical instrumentation experience and ideally should be at least City and Guilds or equivalent qualified in this area. Previous experience in a similar role will be highly advantageous.
10. Previous experience within the electrical trade would be highly advantageous, in particular with any instrument programming knowledge.
11. You will be driven, self-motivated and with excellent organisational skills and must have a strong awareness of compliance and health and safety.
12. Working with SCADA systems and programming of equipment is required, as is the ability to learn bespoke packages.
13. You will have demonstrable experience of being reliable, trustworthy and hard working with a proactive approach to your daily tasks.
14. You will be confident communicating with internal colleagues as well as the public.
15. A full and clean UK driving licence is essential. Due to the nature of the role, ideally with knowledge of the Road Traffic Management Act (NRSWA), although full training regarding this can be provided.
