Detailed job description and main responsibilities to include and maintain key working relationships with: Consultants in both Breast Surgery & Plastic Surgery Registrar colleagues and on-call team Ward MDT including Nursing, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists Nurse Practitioners and nursing colleagues within Burns & Plastics Dressing Clinic and dedicated wards Medical Staff Administrators Other CMG's including Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics • The overriding purpose is to support the provision of highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement. • Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department; • Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences where job plans allow. • To participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with the other Consultants in the department, the CMG and local GPs and commissioners within the local CCGs; • Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff including the observance of local employment and human resource policies and procedures; • Participating in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes and in CPD - CPD is provided in job plans and attendance at audit and other governance meetings is mandatory. • In line with GMC Good Medical Practice it is the responsibility of the post-holder to ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with current quality initiatives within the area of work. • The post-holder is expected to respond in a timely fashion to legitimate requests from Trust officers - this might include investigations of incidents or complaints. • The post-holder is expected to participate in professional continuing medical education; study leave is provided for this purpose. Person specification Training & Qualifications Essential criteria Full GMC registration with a license to practice. MBBS / MRCS Experience Essential criteria Minimum of 2 years' experience working as core level within a Plastic Surgery setting Skills Essential criteria Physically able to participate in a full on-call rota Able to influence and manage expectations of others. Ability to manage own time and work effectively. Disclosure and Barring Service Check Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check. The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment. The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
