Job Title: Technical Food Safety Assistant
Job Location: Milton Keynes (hybrid)
Contract Length: 6 months (possibility of extension)

Role Overview:
The UK FVC operates in over 300 company and franchise stores. The Food Safety & Technical Assistant supports technical and food safety processes and store launches across the bp / Wild Bean Coffee estate. They ensure compliance with food safety legislation and promote a culture of food safety within the business.
What you will do:
1. Review and approve artwork in collaboration with the technical assistant.
2. Review and approve specifications with the technical assistant.
3. Assist with ad hoc projects as needed.
4. Support HACCP & SERT processes.
5. Provide technical product and ingredient knowledge for food within WBC and the wider business, collaborating with the lead developer.
6. Review, sign off, and monitor new suppliers, providing feedback on their performance.
7. Maintain up-to-date product specifications and advise on food safety risks in the supply chain.
8. Assist in developing sourcing guidelines in collaboration with product development, marketing, and the central team.
9. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the supply chain and those managing HACCP and prerequisite programmes.
10. Collaborate with Food/Packaging and Equipment Suppliers.
11. Manage contracts and set KPIs for outsourced food safety/technical functions if required.
What you will have:
1. Degree in Food Science or a related field.
2. HACCP Level 4 certification.
3. Food Safety Level 3 certification.
4. Accredited auditing qualification or demonstrable experience.
5. Member of the IFST.
6. Experience in the food industry, including factories, food service, FMCG, or retail within a technical role.
7. Detail-oriented with a strong eagerness to learn and develop.
8. Understanding of sector, market, customer, and competitor landscape.
9. Experience in supplier selection and monitoring.
10. Knowledge of fresh food, food service offerings, and products.
11. Customer-focused approach.
12. Ability to navigate internal functions within retail.
13. Knowledge of retail category sourcing and buying.
