Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Gastroenterology/GIM with subspecialty interest in Hepatology. The successful applicant will contribute to the well‑respected Gastroenterology and particularly the Hepatology services of the Trust in both in‑patient and outpatient settings, and will have the opportunity to develop the established liver services within the unit.
Responsibilities
* Development of the hepatology service within the trust.
* Contribution to the ongoing development of the hepatology team.
* Active participant in the Gastroenterologist of the week rota (1:6) providing daily consultant‑led input to the gastroenterology wards.
* Active participant in the acute GIM on‑call rota (1:12 evenings, 1:6 weekends) and the GI bleeding on‑call rota (1:9).
* Assist in the provision of the In‑Hospital Care Directorate service.
* Take responsibility for own actions and decisions within the empowerment limits agreed by the lead consultant and Clinical lead for specialty and elective care.
* Perform any other duties that are considered necessary for the efficient working of the service and which are mutually agreed to be relevant to the post as the pattern of service evolves.
* Cover for colleagues during normal periods of leave.
On‑call Commitment
The on‑call commitment for the In‑Hospital Directorate is 1:12 weekday nights and the weekend on‑call is split between long and short weekends. Compensation details are available upon application.
